Connecting to Natural Gas

Connecting your home to Natural Gas is easy. By following a few simple steps, you can quickly connect your home and start enjoying the benefits and convenience of Natural Gas:

Step 1 – Check if Natural Gas is available in your area

Using the following Availability Tool you can check online whether Natural Gas is available in your area. This is only used as a guide only. You will need to lodge a connection request to ensure gas is available to you individual property.

Step 2 – Choose a Natural Gas Retailer

Your natural gas retailer is the company which supplies and bills you for your gas. Retailers in NSW are authorised by The Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability. A list of authorised retailers can be located at http://www.deus.nsw.gov.au/Energy/Gas/Gas%20Suppliers.asp

Step 3 – Request Natural Gas Connection

Your Natural Gas retailer will lodge the connection request on your behalf and we will respond with an offer of connection. Once this offer is accepted by your retailer, we will install the inlet pipe and meter which connects your home to our network.

Information that will be required will include the following:

the address of your property
your contact details
where the meter will be located
the number and type of appliances you intend to connect
name and license number of your appointed plumber , by visiting www.masterplumbers.com.au/find_plumber.asp, you can quickly identify a list of licensed plumbers in your area and then make your selection for NSW or www.masterplumbersact.asn.au/FindaPlumber.aspx for the ACT.
location of your property in reference to the street and cross street
Your Natural Gas retailer will also ask if any non standard conditions might exist. If they do, we may need to visit and inspect the location. Non standard conditions include the following:
- RTA road
- Shared drive way
- Split road
- Distance greater than 30 metres from the property to the meter location
